Midlothian Council are offering an exciting paid opportunity to undertake a valuable qualification whilst working in Early Learning and Childcare settings.
We are particularly but not exclusively interested in school leavers and young people aged 16-24 for whom Midlothian Council can receive funding for training. You will be supported in gaining your qualification by our dedicated teams of Midlothian trainers and colleagues in settings. Throughout your training you will work as a member of a team in an Early Learning and Childcare setting responsible for supporting children’s learning and development in a caring and nurturing environment.
You will gain confidence in planning and implementing the curriculum to enable children to achieve their potential and give them the best possible start in life.
Evidence of competency in literacy and numeracy skills such as a minimum of three standard grades level 3 passes or above to include Mathematics and English or equivalent. SVQ 2 or equivalent is an acceptable alternative.
Experience or evidence of interest in working with young children is desirable for this role.
Automatic interview for applicants who have completed or are attending a Nat 5 in Childcare or LLE Childcare course in Midlothian.

Work to achieve 50% completion on E-portfolio of SVQ3.
Satisfactory study and workplace performance.

Satisfactory study and workplace performance
Award of Qualification SVQ 3 qualification and MA Completion certificate.
Qualification date is defined by the date on the SVQ3 Certificate.

12 months post qualification experience.
Progression through the grade subject to MPM criteria and satisfactory workplace performance.
Salary Scale/Grade: Grade 1(23) to Grade 5 (46) (pro rata rates in brackets including holiday entitlement)
