Fife Jobs - Find jobs in Fife

Fife is the third largest region in Scotland by population with over 366,910 people living here. Although once reliant on  coal mining and heavy engineering ,Fife makes a significant contribution to the economy of Scotland, generating  business turnover of around £12,000 million and and supports 163,000 jobs in the region.

Despite the fact that Fife like the rest of Scotland was not immune from the economic crisis of recent years, towns such as Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes, former industrial heartlands have adapted to the changing economic map and now Fife has jobs and employment in a range of employment sectors.

Although the heavy engineering industries have been in decline, it still remains important but the new high tech industries have filled the gap with electronics operating in Fife's silicon glen.

The region has a strong constrction industry with major housebuilders are based there involved in house building and various construction projects.

The financial services sector is also significant employer with around 19,000 people working within that industry. The Bank of Scotland and Lloyds Banking group have contact centres in Dunfermline, employing call centre and customer service staff.

As a coastal region too Fife is attempting to establish itself within the developing green industries of wave and wind power, attracting engineers and technical expertise to the region.

Fife also has a strong tourism and hospitality base especially on the coast with attractive seaside towns of Pitenweem and Anstruther a magnet for holidaymakers. The region though is also famous for being the home of golf at St Andrews attracting visitors from all over the world to play on the Old course or one of the many other venues there.

The Fife council and NHS Fife are large employers along with education establishments such as Fife College and St Andrews University.

The region as a whole has a high volume of small businesses with the majority employing less than 50 staff, another aspect which augments the Fife economy allowing it to remain competitive.
