The region of East Dunbartonshire lies to north of Glasgow, bounded by the Campsie Fells and the Kilpatrick Hills. It is a strategically significant location for
economic, social and environmental development between the city and rural areas. 
It has a population of around 106,000 and comprises the suburban and rural towns and villages of Bearsden, Bishopbriggs, Kirkintilloch, Lenzie, Milngavie, Milton of Campsie and Torrance.
The current unemployment rate in the region is 2.4% well below the national average.

West Dunbartonshire has a population of around 86,000 . The area is made up of rural, urban and waterfront locations .The main towns include Clydebank ,Dumbarton ,Balloch and the Vale of Leven.
The area has a rich industrial past, shaped by its world-famous shipyards along the Clyde, and boasts many attractions ranging from the iconic Titan Crane 
and Dumbarton Rock, to the beauty of the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park and many historic whisky warehouses.
The current rate of unenmployment in the region is 6.2% which is above the National Average of 4.5%.
