The region of Angus in Scotland is located in the North East of Scotland to the south of Aberdeenshire, with a population of approximately 110,000. The main towns include Forfar, Carnoustie and Arbroath.The current employment rate of 64.1 % is well below the UK and Scottish averages.

Angus being a coastal region with the North Sea had a strong traditional fishing industry with the large harbour at Arbroath operating for many centuries as one of Scotland main fishing locations. Fishing though, like the other traditional industries in Angus such as weaving, shoemaking and quarrying are now a distant past of the regions economy.

Today in Angus there are a total 68,700 people of working age (16-64) with a range of sectors proving job opportunities and employment.Around 70% of employment come from within the service sector which includes Public administration with organisations such as Angus Council ,NHS Tayside and Dundee and Angus College, the large employers. Other service sectors include IT, transport and tourism via hospitality and leisure activities being key to it's success.

Other sectors which are key providers are the more traditional industries of agriculture and engineering with manufacturing providing opportunities for the region also.
