Being an accountant involves keeping financial records for either a company or an individual. In Scotland, there are plenty of accountancy and accountancy-based positions to choose from.

For instance, Scotland is home to hundreds of accountancy firms who employ Certified or Chartered Accountants. With good rates of pay and benefits, being a qualified accountant can be a very lucrative career. There are also plenty of opportunities for payroll assistants, administrators and secretarial roles within accounting. 

Every one of the top accountancy firms in the UK has a base in Scotland including PWC, Deloitte and Ernst & Young. Many of these big accountancy firms take on a number of graduates every year, though competition for places can be rife. Larger companies tend to be located in cities like Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen, though there are plenty of jobs available in towns and smaller communities throughout the country.
