Happy New Year and Happy New Job
2018 a new year and a new job .
With the year drawing to a close and January just round the corner many Scots will be looking to the future and wondering what does it hold for them regards their career direction and life in general.Over the last decade Scotland,s economy had been hit with job losses ,the devastating effects of the credit crunch and all round uncertainty ever present features for most of the working population.However things are never perfect with the economy and life still goes on.Indeed Although the state of the economy and external factors are important on what choices are available to you as a job seeker it is all down to you whether you are motivated enough to take on a new challenge in your working life.
Below we have compiled a list of ideas and questions which you can ask yourself.Although these choices are hypothetical you should find this a worthwhile few minutes spent ,especially if you want to take a new career route or even if you have never considered it .
Before you start Why not write down your thoughts/answers in a notebook and refer back to them now and again .It may allow you to see and approach things from a new angle.

Are you happy in your current job? If not , why?
Are you successful in your current job ?
How would you define career success -promotion ,higher salary,awards?
What level of success,if any, do you achieve in your current job?
If You aren't achieving success which job would allow you to be successful ?
If there were no barriers or obstacles standing in your way what would you like to achieve in your career?
Which people do you most admire today and what is it about them that attracts you to them or their career ?
Imagine a year from now and you have achieved greater success ? What is different about your life and Job ?
What activity do you most love in your life ? Does it make up part of your job ? Can you make it part of your job?
Looking into the future time -Where would you like to be in your career this time next year ? Five years ?…or even 10 years ?
