Contract Scotland is excited to be partnering with an inclusive and vibrant organisation to recruit a Management Accountant to join their team. This is an office based position however hybrid can be offered after a qualifying period and will give you the option to work one day from home.

Due to internal developments this is a newly created position where you will work as part of a small finance team to deliver an excellent provision for the company. Your duties will include:

  • Reviewing and developing processes, procedures, controls & systems with strong involvement in process/continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Production and presentation of monthly reporting packs.
  • Supporting the year end accounting and reporting processes
  • Ensuring statutory deadlines are met for VAT Returns and Payroll Returns
  • Supporting the internal and external audit processes, ensuring an effective control environment
  • Project / Activity / Funds approval tracking and expenditure reporting
  • Reviewing, challenging & posting Finance Manager & colleague’s journals
  • Monthly BS reconciliation review, TB and BS review
  • Reporting to the budget holders and senior leadership team providing variance analysis
  • Reviewing month end reconciliations
  • Responsibility for all aspects of Management Accounting including variance analysis and associated commentary used by senior leadership to support commercial decision making.
  • Managing all transactional finance activities, ensuring all financial controls are maintained and improved.
  • Ensuring the financial health and integrity of the ledgers are always maintained.
  • Working and developing relationships with non-finance team members and budget holders to communicate findings and support opportunities for improvement and development.
  • Seeking out opportunities for the department to improve the speed and accuracy of information and work with a varied range of products including payroll and accounting software, Excel and the stock/inventory system

You will have knowledge and experience from working in a similar role and will have the ability to challenge and implement processes. You will be a team focussed individual, with excellent communication skills. A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential and Sage experience would be ideal.
